Pediatric Trauma - Management of the Pediatric Trauma Patient
Facial injuries
Control hemorrhage and apply dressing to lacerations, abrasions, avulsions
Apply ice to fractures and contusions of face and ear

Eye injuries:
Cover injured eye with a rigid eye shield or cup
Place a sterile, moist dressing on exposed globe-do not manipulate
Apply soft sterile dressings to both eyes
Secure impaled objects in place
Ear injuries:
Apply dressing in front and behind the ear and use rolled gauze to secure
Amputation- place part in saline soaked gauze, place in plastic bag, & place bag in bag with ice
Epistaxis
Suction bleeding as needed
If no spine injury, sit patient up & have them lean forward
Oral injuries:
Suction bleeding as needed
Secure impaled objects in place unless interfere with hemorrhage control or airway management
Remove teeth or fragments from mouth
Bring tooth - touch only crown, rinse with saline, place in cold whole milk or appropriate solution
