Pelvic Injuries
Pelvic injuries in children are most commonly the result of a pedestrian struck
Significant force required to fracture or disrupt the pelvic ring
The pelvis is very vascular and susceptible to significant hemorrhage
If a pelvic fracture is detected, apply a pelvic binder
Stabilize fractures, decrease blood loss, diminish further injury and pain with movement
Pelvic binder application, fluid resuscitation and expedient transport is the key to survival in the prehospital setting
