Burn - Rule of 9's
When burn injuries are present, it is important to estimate the total body surface area involved (TBSA), in order to guide treatment.
Adults / Adolescents:
"Rule of 9's" - note that the surface areas in adults are in multiples of 9.
Examine for critical burn areas (face, neck, hands, feet, genitalia, circumferential burns.
Young Children:
Note the difference between the TBSA percentages in adults and children.
