History

Obtain a pertinent history of the patient using the SAMPLE mnemonic. This should include information about the patient's condition, i.e., signs and symptoms; allergies; medications; any pertinent past medical history; the time of their last oral intake; and information about events prior to the incident.

This can be done concurrently with the assessment of vital signs and continued examination.
