Let us listen to our patient's auscultation at the upper left sternal edge. [Sounds]

There is a single S1, early grade one, short systolic murmur and single S2. S2 is single because the aortic component is delayed, obscuring the pulmonic component even during inspiration. The aortic component is delayed because of the effect of chronic hypertension.
