Program Progress:

You are incorrect - a long term risk exists for development of systemic hypertension.

Your choice: Patient can be discharged from cardiology
Our patient should not be discharged from cardiology for two reasons. First, particularly when coarctation repair occurs beyond childhood, long term effects of preceding systemic hypertension may result in the risk of early age adult cardiovascular disease, including systemic hypertension. Second, our patient has an abnormal aortic valve with mild aortic regurgitation, thus requiring periodic cardiovascular examination.
