Your choice: ACE inhibitors
Angiotensin converting enzyme, or ACE, inhibitors reduce afterload. In critically ill patients with acute mitral regurgitation, however, their use is limited. The ability to quickly and carefully titrate drug dosages with a rapid onset of action is not readily accomplished with these agents.
