Pediatric Trauma: Module 1
Blunt
- Most common type in pediatric trauma.
- Falls, motor vehicle accidents.
- May not have obvious external signs of trauma.
- Often associated with multisystem trauma.
Penetrating
- Body is pierced by an object.
- Most commonly caused by firearms and stabbing.
- Usually focused to smaller area than blunt trauma.
- Increasing in frequency in adolescents.
