Program Progress:

Go to Harvey's bedside, select condition 22, and evaluate our patient's: Auscultation at the Upper Right Sternal Edge
and then at the
Upper Left Sternal Edge
Choose the best description of the systolic murmur at the upper left sternal edge in our patient:

The next step in evaluating our patient is auscultation. After identifying normal auscultation at the upper right sternal edge, we now listen at the upper left sternal edge. The cotton swab has been placed over the carotid artery to identify ventricular systole and help you assess the timing of the acoustic events. In addition, observe the outward movement of the abdomen that identifies inspiration, to also help you assess the acoustic events.
