Next, we evaluate the venous impulse. First, we must identify it here, in the inferolateral aspect of the sternocleidomastoid muscle. We evaluate two things: one, the mean pressure – in that regard, here is the sternal angle and here is the venous impulse in the neck. Then, we identify the wave form and for that we have a timing mechanism, that is, the carotid vessel. We shall use the carotid for timing and observe the venous impulse in the neck.
