Left ventriculogram - diagram RAO
To help understand the following left ventriculogram from our patient, a diagram of the left heart is shown in the right anterior oblique view. The left atrium, left ventricle and aorta are labeled. The tip of the pigtail catheter is positioned in the left ventricle. The motion of the left ventricle from diastole to systole is also indicated by the arrows.

Left ventriculogram - RAO view
This is a still-frame of the left ventriculogram in the right anterior oblique view from our patient. It clearly shows a dilated ascending aorta and the tip of the pigtail catheter in the left ventricle. The aortic valve leaflets are indicated by the arrows. In the real-time study that follows, note that the walls of the left ventricle move well.

Left ventriculogram - diagram LAO
To help understand the following left ventriculogram from our patient, a diagram of the left heart is shown in the left anterior oblique view. The left atrium, left ventricle and aorta are labeled. The tip of the pigtail catheter is positioned in the left ventricle. The motion of the left ventricle from diastole to systole is also indicated by the arrows.

Left ventriculogram - LAO view
This is a still frame of the left ventriculogram in the left anterior oblique view from our patient. It clearly shows the dilated ascending aorta and the tip of the pigtail catheter in the enlarged left ventricle. The aortic valve leaflets are indicated by the arrows. In the real-time study that follows, the patient’s left ventricular function is well preserved.

Regurgitant jet - LAO view
This is a still frame of an aortic root angiogram in the left anterior oblique view. Note that the tip of the pigtail catheter is positioned in the ascending aorta. The arrow identifies regurgitation of the contrast material into the left ventricle. In the following real-time study, severe aortic regurgitation is very well seen.
