This electrocardiogram shows an acute lateral wall myocardial infarction. The characteristic feature demonstrated here is the ST segment elevation in the leads that reflect the lateral wall, that is, leads I, aVL, V5 and V6. These ST segment elevations reflect transmural injury, a step in the evolution to true infarction.
